Columbia Springs Stewardship Saturday program seeks volunteers for a variety of projects — plant flower beds, pull weeds or ivy, weave baskets from English ivy, or build bird houses. All tools and safety equipment provided. Children 7 and older may volunteer with an adult. Volunteers help from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. one Saturday a month. Registration is required.

The Salvation Army Food Pantry, 7508 N.E. 47th Ave., Vancouver, is open expanded hours — 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays — and seeks additional help. Shifts, beginning at one hour per week, are flexible. A bread-truck driver is urgently needed.

Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities of Southwest Washington seeks volunteers and is taking applications through Sept. 7 for its long-term-care ombudsman program. Ombudsmen advocate for the rights of residents in long-term-care facilities, and should expect to serve for one year, on call. Training begins in September, requiring 32 hours during four days. For this position, contact Neil at 360-992-4076.

NatureScaping of SW Washington is seeking garden coordinators to help maintain themed gardens at the Wildlife Botanical Gardens in Brush Prairie. Gardening continues through October with coordinators doing some planning and other prep over the winter months.
