As the days tick down to Labor Day weekend — one of the busiest road-tripping holidays of the year — gas prices are holding steady in Vancouver and Portland.

According to a Tuesday media release from AAA, the current average gas price in Vancouver is $3.33, down a few cents from a month ago, when drivers paid $3.38 at the pump. Portland saw a similarly modest drop in gas prices, with the typical gallon going for $3.30 compared to last month’s $3.33.

Gas in both cities costs well above the national average of $2.84. Across the country, gas is more expensive than it was a year ago, when the average price at the pump was $2.37 per gallon. In Vancouver and Portland this time last year, gas prices were $2.93 and $2.82, respectively.
