An Albany, Ore.-based developer is seeking permission from the city of Vancouver to build a 93-room hotel near the Interstate 205 and state Highway 500 interchange.

The project, dubbed Springhill Suites, would feature a five-story building built on 0.96 acres of property located at 4812 N.E. 94th Ave. The first two floors are slated for parking and the lobby, and the top three levels would be devoted to guest rooms.

Two vacant lots make up the existing site, according to the application summary document submitted by Christina Knowles of Varitone Architecture LLC. Virk Properties Vancouver Mall LLC owns the property.

Zoned as general commercial, Virk Properties acquired the two lots — one 0.46 acres, the other 0.54 acres — in May 2016 for $520,000. In 2017, the Clark County Assessor’s Office valued each tract of land at $160,300 and $188,200, respectively.

Springhill Suites, a three-star Marriott hotel chain, has more than 360 existing locations across North America, according to its website. The proposed development on Northeast 94th Avenue would join four other nearby Springhill Suites locations — two in Portland, one in Hillsboro and one in east Clark County near Cascade Highlands. The Clark County hotel boasts a rating of 4.4 out of five stars on Google, based on 338 reviews.
