Letter: Corruption envelops White House

By George Curtin, Camas

The conviction and guilty pleas of President Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort, former National Security Adviser Mike Flynn, and former lawyer Michael Cohen is evidence enough of the corruption that envelops the Trump White House.

The president has now been implicated in a crime. His own words and Cohen’s sworn testimony attest to his paying hush money to influence the course of the 2016 election.

Even more shocking is the failure of Congress to perform its constitutional duty to provide checks and balances to the excesses of the executive branch of our government. Republicans, including Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, have buried their heads in the sand and refused to act to restore decency to our national politics.

I, for one, am sick of this depraved administration and those who support it with their silence. It’s time for a change. Vote Democratic!
