RIDGEFIELD — The city of Ridgefield is looking to fill an upcoming vacancy on the city council created by Councilor John Main’s decision to move to Idaho. His position will be vacant starting Oct. 1.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. Sept. 14. Applicants must be registered to vote in Ridgefield and lived in city limits for at least one year. Information about the position and application packets can be found at www.ridgefieldwa.us/city-council-vacancy.

Candidate interviews will be held Oct. 4, and a new councilor will be sworn in on Oct. 11. The term runs through 2021, but whoever is appointed to the seat will have to run for re-election in 2019. That person will then run again after the term expires in 2021.
