A vehicle crashed just east of Interstate 5 off Northeast Minnehaha Street, toppling a power pole and causing a road closure Thursday morning.

Clark County sheriff’s deputies, Clark County Fire District 6 responders and an ambulance were dispatched about 9:40 a.m. to the 6100 block of Northeast 14th Court for a report of a traffic crash.

Power lines fell across the road. Deputies arrived on scene and shut down the road until Clark Public Utilities workers got there, shut off power to the lines and moved them off the road, Sgt. Craig Randall said.

There was one person in the vehicle that hit the pole, Randall said. They were uninjured but needed to be rescued from the wreckage of their car.

Firefighters pried open the vehicle’s passenger door, which along with the driver’s-side door had been damaged in the wreck, said Fire District 6 spokesman Dave Schmitke.

The driver told deputies they passed out from recent injuries they’re still recovering from, Randall said. They refused medical treatment, Schmitke said.
