Bryan Dent was hired by Riverview Bancorp Inc., the parent company of Riverview Community Bank, headquartered in Vancouver, as vice president and commercial loan officer on its lending team. Vancouver native Todd Zalk was hired as vice president, commercial lending and banking officer at SELCO Community Credit Union’s Commercial and Business Banking division. SELCO, based in Eugene, is Oregon’s third-largest credit union, according to a news release. Zalk will work at the Forest Park branch, 2465 N.W. Thurman St., Portland, where he will focus on financing owner-occupied and investor commercial real estate in the Portland-Vancouver area. Zalk has a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in business management and organizational leadership from George Fox University, Portland. He’s also vice chair of Salvation Army for Clark County, is a volunteer at Portland Rescue Mission’s men’s shelter called “The Harbor,” and serves on the advisory board for the Career and Technical Education program at Battle Ground, Evergreen and Vancouver school districts, among other activities. Emily Zwetzig, who currently serves as the interim budget director of the Clark County Budget Office, will step up as its director. She started working for the county in 2014 and has worked as a senior budget and policy analyst since February 2017. Previously, she was a department finance manager at Clark County District Court, Corrections and as a business manager in Clackamas County, Ore. According to a news release, she is working on implementing new budget software and transitioning the county budget to an annual cycle. The county budget office is comprised of a team of analysts who work with other departments to develop budget policies and procedures, as well as produce recommendations for executive staff and city council.

Nick and Amy Brown have announced the opening of a business called Eco Pet Cremations, located at 1413 Lincoln Ave., Suite A., in Vancouver. As opposed to using flame crematories, Eco Pet Creations will use a water-based process called “aquamation,” which they say is more environmentally friendly and less expensive to operate.
