Battle Ground — The Venersborg Historic Preservation Society received an $11,000 grant from the Frank L. and Arlene G. Price Foundation to replace the roof on the Historic Venersborg Schoolhouse. The society celebrated the grant with cake in the schoolhouse, which was built in 1912 and was used to educate the children of the remote community until 1931. The schoolhouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The society is also going to raffle a quilt sewn by Kathleen Lauman, a fabric artist and society member, to raise money for the upkeep and maintenance of the schoolhouse/community center. Information about renting the schoolhouse for events or buying raffle tickets for the quilt can be found at www.venersborgschoolhouse.com.
