KWRL falls in Babe Ruth World Series semis

The run for the KWRL Centerfield Roosters at the Babe Ruth World Series for 13-15 baseball teams ended Wednesday after a 16-4 loss to Mifflin County, Pa., in the semifinals in Longview.

Things got off to a bright start for the Roosters after scoring three runs in the top of the second inning.

Devyn Turner and Michael Goode opened the inning with back-to-back singles. Both players would score on consecutive groundouts. Derek Kropp’s single to left gave KWRL a 3-0 lead.

KWRL would take that 3-0 lead into the bottom of the third inning when Mifflin County put 10 runs on the board. The Pennsylvania team would add six more runs in the fourth inning.

The game ended after the top of the fifth when Aidan Hundt drove in the game’s final run on a sacrifice fly. The game ended on the 10-run rule.

Cade Reitzenstein and Ethan Hefflin also had hits for KWRL, which won three games in a row coming into Wednesday’s game.

Mifflin County will face Tallahassee, Fla., for the championship at 6 p.m. Thursday at David Story Field in Longview.
