The KWRL Centerfield Roosters have moved on to single-elimination play at the Babe Ruth World Series 13-15 year-old baseball tournament in Longview.

The Roosters (2-2) beat host Longview 11-7 on Monday at David Story Field and earned the No. 2 seed from their pool for the single-elimination round.

The Roosters built an 8-1 lead after the top of the fifth inning before Longview (2-2) mounted a bit of a rally in the final three innings.

A three-run sixth inning gave the Roosters enough insurance to get the win.

Michael Goode was 2 for 2 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored for the Roosters. Lead-off hitter Irving Alverez was 2 for 4 with an RBI, and Alex Wood and Landon Krausse each had a hit and three RBI.

Alverez pitched the first five innings for the win, allowing two runs on three hits with seven strikeouts and three walks.

The Rooster now face Concord, N.H., at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in a quarterfinal matchup. Concord, the New England champion, was 1-3 in its pool and still earned a third seed.
