Clark County’s two Babe Ruth World Series baseball participants both fell to 0-2 in pool play with losses on Saturday.
The KWRL Centerfield Roosters 13-15-year-old team playing in Longview, and KWRL Hit Squad 14-year-olds playing in Eagle Pass, Texas, each have two more pool play games remaining.

13-15-yo World Series
Albany, Minn., the Midwest Plains Region champion, shut out the Centerfield Roosters 8-0 at David Story Field in Longview.
The Roosters had eight hits but stranded eight runners on base.
“Mental breakdowns,” KWRL manager Dave Chicks told the Longview Daily News. “We left a lot of guys on base, made some bigtime mental mistakes. We’ll come back tomorrow and battle.”
Easton Ortega and Landon Krausse were both 2 for 3, and Irving Alvarez hit a double for the Roosters.
Albany (2-0) scored four times in the first inning and four in the third.
The Roosters had the bases loaded with two outs in the fifth inning, but Albany got a fielder’s choice to get out of it.
The Roosters next face Southwest Region champion Denver City, Texas (1-1) at 4 p.m. Sunday at David Story Field.
14-yo World Series
KWRL Hit Squad had a 3-0 lead after two innings, but Atlantic Shore, N.J., came back to tie the game in the fifth and then added seven runs in the sixth for a 10-3 victory at Eagle Pass, Texas.
Hit Squad had just two hits in the game. Seth Minor had an RBI double in the first inning, and Casey Struckmeier had a double. Tyler Davis also had an RBI.
After the second inning, Hit Squad had just one base runner. Tyler Howard reached on an error in the sixth inning to end a string of 11 consecutive batters going down.
Two Atlantic Shore pitchers combined for 13 strikeouts.
Hit Squad faces Nederland, Texas (0-2), the Texas state champion, at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
