Police arrest intoxicated Woodland man, find loaded gun nearby

The Woodland Police Department received a report of shots being fired at 11:57 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Gun Club Road and Lewis River Road, and further reports of a man who appeared intoxicated and was almost struck by a passing vehicle.

Police arrived to find John Sigmon, 68, of Woodland trying to hide in an adjacent field with a loaded handgun nearby, police said.

With assistance from the Cowlitz County Sheriff Office and Kalama Police Department, Sigmon was arrested on weapon-related charges and felony threats.
