Vancouver’s Michael Johansen was one of four qualifiers to the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship out of a local qualifier at Oswego Lake Country Club that concluded on Wednesday.

Johansen and three others finished co-medalists at 3-under-par 68 in the 77-player field.

Johansen, a graduate of Skyview High School, is a former University of Portland golfer who won the 2012 Oregon Men’s Stroke Play Championship.

He began his round on Wednesday with a bogey, leading to an even-par front nine. He compiled three birdies on the back nine, however, with no bogeys, leading to his 68.

The 2018 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship will take place Sept. 21-27, 2018 at Charlotte Country Club in North Carolina.
