The Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce expanded its “red coat” Ambassador Team, a group of business owners and representatives who serve as the chamber’s welcoming committee for new members, a liaison between existing members and a conduit for prospective members. New ambassadors, joining 22 others, are Ross Armstrong, Lisa Bender and Judy Musa. Armstrong, who works at Biggs Insurance, attended Skyview High School and graduated from University of Washington in 2016. Bender, of Vancouver, is a commercial banking relationship manager for HAPO Community Credit Union. Musa is the Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation’s business development director. Vancouver Public Schools Superintendent Steve Webb received the Bob Grossman Leadership in School Communications Award, an award given annually by the National School Public Relations Association. He was honored “for his use of strategic communication in collaborative planning efforts, engaging the public in making decisions, and, ultimately improving student achievement,” according to a news release. Only the second superintendent in Washington to receive the award, it was presented to Webb on July 17 at the annual seminar in Anaheim, Calif. It recognizes a practicing superintendent of schools or CEO of an education agency, service center or immediate unit for outstanding leadership in school public relations and communication.
Lisa Lowe, a lawyer at Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt firm, 700 Washington St., was recognized by the Washington State Bar Association last month, receiving its Local Hero Award for her service in Clark County. The award, given to those who have made “noteworthy contributions to their communities,” was presented by Washington State Bar Association President Bill Pickett to Lowe at a July 27 luncheon at the Hilton Vancouver Washington. She was nominated by the Clark County Bar Association. Lowe has more than 24 years of service with the Port of Vancouver, with more than 12 of those as the port’s general counsel. She also serves on a number of boards and committees, including Columbia River Economic Development Council, the Humane Society for Southwest Washington and the Camas-Washougal Chamber Board of Directors. Lowe also was the first female chair of Identity Clark County and is the founder of Empower Women + Girls, a group that raises money for nonprofits that support women.
