Ridgefield – The Ridgefield Police Department received a grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for 15 automated external defibrillators to have in police cars and city buildings.

On Sept. 27, a La Center High School student collapsed in the parking lot. Clark County Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Brett Graham was already at the school and used a defibrillator to resuscitate her and transport her to a hospital. Since the incident, the city of Ridgefield has made it a priority to equip the police department and city facilities with defibrillators.

In 2017, the Ridgefield Police Department received 10 call requests for defibrillators, but only had one and was not able to provide assistance on all those calls.

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation was founded in 2005 to provide assistance to fire departments, law enforcement agencies, emergency medical service agencies, public safety organizations, nonprofits and schools.
