The PeaceHealth Board of Directors announced Wednesday that Karl Carrier will take over as chairman.
Carrier succeeds Sister Andrea Nenzel, CSJP, who will now be the board’s vice chair. This is the first time a PeaceHealth board chair position is held by a lay leader, according to a PeaceHealth press release.
“I am deeply humbled to accept the responsibilities of the board chair,” Carrier said in a press release. “As we look to the future of PeaceHealth, we will continue to live out the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace by growing our ministry to better serve our communities.”
Founded in 1890, PeaceHealth, which is based in Vancouver, is a not-for-profit Catholic health system that provides care in Washington, Oregon and Alaska.
Since 2016, Carrier has served the board as chair of the Strategy and Stewardship Committee. He has an MBA in Finance from the University of Oregon and has held multiple executive roles in nonprofit and Catholic health care organizations, according to the press release.
“We are fortunate to have someone of Karl Carrier’s integrity and experience to step into the leadership of our Board and help position PeaceHealth for future strategic growth and service to our communities,” PeaceHealth president and chief executive officer Liz Dunne said in the release. “We are especially grateful for Sister Andrea’s enduring leadership for the past 12 years and look forward to her continued service as vice chair of our Board as we further PeaceHealth’s mission of service.”
