A water main broke late Thursday, flooding Northeast Salmon Creek Avenue near Northeast 134th Street.

David Schmitke with Clark County Fire District 6 said thousands of gallons of water spilled onto the road, turning Salmon Creek Avenue into its namesake. Around 10:15 p.m. Thursday firefighters and deputies with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office were called to 13216 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave. where they found water running down the street and into the adjacent creek.

Schmitke said Waters Edge Condominiums and other nearby homes were not flooded. However, the water main break damaged pavement in the area. Erica Erland, spokeswoman for Clark Public Utilities, said the street will be closed for repairs potentially into the weekend.

Erland said the break initially impacted more than 300 customers. All of them should have their water service restored by now; any customers who are still impacted should call the utility at 360-992-3000.

The utility has not determined what caused the water main to break, Erland said. Sewer service has not been disrupted and there is no known damage to sewer facilities.
