A tractor-trailer overturned on Interstate 205 Thursday morning, blocking the right lane of the southbound freeway.

The crash was reported around 8:25 a.m. near the exit for Northeast 134th Street in the Salmon Creek area. Clark County Fire District 6 spokesman Dave Schmitke said the vehicle was southbound on Interstate 5 and merged onto I-205 when it rolled onto its side. The trailer landed on a guardrail, Schmitke said.

Nobody was injured in the crash, according to Washington State Patrol Trooper Will Finn, but it did make a big mess.

Traffic backed up around the I-5 and I-205 split for several hours as crews worked to clean up the wreckage.

When the trailer hit a guardrail, “It opened up just like a pop can,” he said.

“It’s been a real mess all day.”

Finn said Thursday afternoon no one had been cited.
