Felida — On March 28, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, met with Skyview High School students Amelia Madarang, Nathaniel Chen and Kristen Stilin, who were winners in the Congressional STEM App Competition. The three teamed up to design an app called “Duck & Cover” that allows users to prepare for an emergency or natural disaster. The app reminds users when to change smoke alarm batteries, allows users to upload documents they’d need in case of an emergency and keeps track of how much water to store. The students designed the app to help users before, during and after emergencies. Beutler gave them their awards at Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency.
