Greg Kimsey has announced that he will seek another term as Clark County auditor.
Kimsey, a Republican, was first elected auditor in 1998 and re-elected four times. As auditor, Kimsey serves as the county’s chief officer for both finance and elections. He also oversees internal and performance audits of Clark County government, as well as other county functions, such as issuing marriage and auto licenses.
“Kimsey believes that as the county auditor his most important responsibility is to work to improve citizens’ confidence in their government,” reads a news release announcing his re-election. “Every interaction a citizen has with government is an opportunity to improve that person’s confidence in their government.”
According to the news release, Kimsey currently has 43 permanent employees and a $6.2 million annual budget.
The news release states that Kimsey will seek “to provide excellent service while minimizing the cost of those services.” The release touts Kimsey’s accomplishments in decreasing the number of employees in his office despite an increase in Clark County’s population and employees in other areas of county government.
