Battle Ground — Tukes Valley Primary School students spent some time outdoors on March 19, when they visited the Center for Agriculture, Science and Environmental Education campus in Battle Ground.

The students have been working on a project called “The Forests of Washington State,” which ties together the state teaching standards in subjects including science, history, geography, English language arts and math.

The hands-on visit outdoors had students measuring trees and collecting other data to determine whether they were in an old-growth forest.
