Clark athletics: Baseball splits with Clackamas; softball swept by Centralia

Torin Bowden’s double in the sixth inning brought home Ben Wagner with the go-ahead run as the Clark College baseball team beat Clackamas 4-3 on Monday at Oregon City to split an NWAC South region doubleheader.

Clackamas won the first game 7-3 as Clark tried to rally in the ninth.

The Penguins scored all their runs with two outs in the ninth. The rally ended two two runners on base as Braden Dukhart went to first on a dropped third strike, but Jordan Sunitsch was thrown out at second base.

Clark (14-7, 5-3 NWAC South) is next scheduled to host Lane at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Kindsfather Field on the Clark campus.

SOFTBALL — Centralia swept a doubleheader at Clark on Monday, winning 5-1 and 14-3.

In the first game, Clark’s leadoff hitter Mary Schorn was 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles.

The second game went five innings. Karley Yoshioka was 3 for 3 with a double and RBI for the Penguins.

Clark (6-14, 4-9) is next schedule to play Tuesday at Chemeketa in Salem, Ore.
