Clark softball bats get hot in sweep of Chemeketa

Nakoa-Chung combines to hit for cycle in doubleheader

Shaz Nakoa-Chung combined to hit for the cycle as the Clark College softball team swept an NWAC South Region doubleheader from Chemeketa on Tuesday in Vancouver.

Nakoa-Chung was 3 for 4 with a triple, home run, four RBI and scored three runs in Clark’s 10-4 first-game win.

Teammate Karley Yoshioka was 3 for 4 with a double and RBI as the Penguins pounded out 12 hits.

In the second game, Clark had 13 hits in winning 13-0 in five innings.

Nakoa-Chung was 2 for 3, completing the cycle with a double, and drove in four runs.

Lucy Yazzolino went 3 for 4 with a double and RBI. Chloe Blehm was 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBI, and was the winning pitcher with five strikeouts.

Clark (6-11, 4-6 NWAC South) is next scheduled to host Southwestern Oregon at 3 p.m. today, and Centralia at noon on Saturday.
