Battle Ground – The city of Battle Ground’s Engineering and Community Development offices, including the Permit Center, will be closed Oct. 23 -25, according a news release.

While the offices are closed, staff will participate in a Washington State Lean Academy to look into ways to improve department processes. The Lean Academy was developed by Washington state government to help local governments be more efficient in their processes and deliver better services to citizens.

The focus of the Lean Academy will be on the Community Development and Engineering Departments’ concurrent land-use and engineering review process. According to the news release, the process involves simultaneous review of both land-use entitlements and civil engineering and it is one of the most complex processes the department encounters.

While Community Development and Engineering offices will be closed for the three-day Lean Academy, code compliance, and building and construction inspection requests and services will remain active and available, according to the news release.

Code compliance requests can be made by using the city’s online Citizen Action Request at www.cityofbg.org/request or by calling 360-342-5048. Building and construction inspection requests are available online at www.cityofbg.org/inspectionrequest or by calling 360-342-5085. Building permits will not be issued during the closure nor will applications be received. For assistance with permitting prior to or after the three-day closure, please contact the Community Development Department at 360-342-5047 or at www.cityofbg.org/building.
