Clark County – The Native Arts and Cultures Foundation, based in Vancouver, is taking applications for a second round of Mentor Artist Fellowships, aimed at helping established American Indian artists mentor emerging ones.
Seven Mentor Artist Fellowships of $30,000 apiece will be awarded, with $20,000 going to the mentor, $5,000 to the art project itself and $5,000 for the apprentice artist’s expenses. Eligible applicants are established American Indian or Alaskan Native artists with at least 10 years experience as well as five years’ residence and enrolled membership in an American Indian tribe or Alaskan Native corporation in the Pacific Northwest, Southwest or Upper Midwest regions of the United States.
The fellowship’s goal is to improve creative development, artistic rigor and intergenerational cultural knowledge. A final joint mentor/apprentice art project is required.
Applications will be taken through the end of the business day on Nov. 5. Fellowship awards will be announced in spring 2018. To learn more and apply, visit https://nacfgrants.gosmart.org or https://www.nativeartsandcultures.org.
