Canon Racanelli completed 16 of 18 passes and threw for five touchdowns and the Hockinson defense pitched a shutout in a 2A Greater St. Helens League contest Friday night at Nautilus Field.
The win pushed Hockinson’s record to 5-0 over, 3-0 in 2A GSHL play and sets up a matchup for first place next Friday at Fishback Stadium in Washougal. The Panthers defeated Ridgefield 34-14, also improving to 5-0, 3-0.
Four of Canon Racanelli’s five touchdown passes came in the first half as Hockinson led 33-0 after a very unusual first half which included a 40-minute delay due to the lights going out with 5:36 left to play. Officials decided to start halftime during the outage and play resumed with the game going from the second quarter directly to the third with only a minute break.
Canon Racanelli’s completions were to eight different receivers. Two of Canon Racanelli’s five touchdowns came to his brother Sawyer, one on a seven-yard fade route and the second on a 63-yard catch and run.
