A Vancouver man fell and died while hiking at Smith Rock State Park near Bend, Ore.

Officials say it appears Sebastian E. Baker, 23, was hiking alone on the Misery Ridge trail Tuesday, according to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.

Baker reportedly left the trail and was in the area of Picnic Lunch Wall peak when he fell to the base of the wall, about 250 feet, the sheriff’s office said.

Emergency crews were called to the area just before 7 p.m., but Baker died at the scene.

The agency is asking that any witnesses that may have seen the incident or Baker prior to the incident is asked to call the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office at 541-693-6911.
