Battle Ground — Firm Foundation Christian School graduate Emily Hoeflein was one of 12 artists selected to have her work displayed in next year’s calendar from the Association of Christian Schools International. Hoeflein’s ink and watercolor piece, titled “The Sparrow,” will be the month of December’s featured image. She first entered her image in the Northwest region’s Art Fair and was award Best in Show for the Mixed Media category. Hoeflein graduated from Firm Foundation in May and is contemplating pursuing art professionally. “Emily just gets it,” Karla Merritt, Hoeflein’s high school art teacher, said in a release from the school. “It is a passion that simply resides within her.”
