Kelso – Travelers that will need to reach Interstate 5 from Longview or Kelso will need to leave earlier than normal next weekend.

Starting at 7 p.m. Friday, contractors working for the Washington Department of Transportation will close all lanes of eastbound Cowlitz River Bridge, state Highway 432, known as the Harry E. Morgan Bridge, to resurface the road and repair expansion joints.

Work is expected to cease and the road will reopen by 6 a.m. Sept. 25. During the construction a detour will be in place.

Another closure of the eastbound span is planned for October.
