Despite Jayson Maddux’ best efforts and late heroics, Black Hills held on to defeated Prairie.

Prairie leapt to an early 14-0 lead as Maddux threw for two early scores. The momentum was disrupted by constant penalties as the Falcons racked up 19 total flags.

Maddux threw for 396 yards including two touchdowns to Nolan Mickenham of 69- and 66-yards on the teams’ first and finals plays of the evening.

The Black Hills special teams unit was able to score off a blocked punt and a 90-yard punt return by Kade Weitzel.

Black Hills’ Taylor Simmons ran for the lone offensive score for the team while also intercepting Maddux twice in the second half.

Both sides of the ball for Prairie played well as the defense held the Wolves to a mere 179 total offensive yards, forced two fumbles, an interception and a safety. The Falcons missed two field goals and an extra point.
