Saturday was a day of debuts, not just for college football in general but several players from Clark County.
Among the most impressive was Reilly Hennessey, a Camas grad who made his first start at quarterback for Central Washington. The junior, who transferred from Eastern Washington, led the Wildcats to a 34-10 road win over seven-time national champion Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Hennessey threw for 144 yards and a touchdown. Utilizing the read-option, he also led the Wildcats with 87 yards rushing on 14 carries.
Mountain View grad Christopher Mitchell made his debut for Air Force. The sophomore offensive lineman saw action in the Falcons’ 62-0 win over VMI.
Other standouts included Caleb Lightbourn (Camas) whose punts for Nebraska consistently pinned Arkansas State deep. Taylor Nelson (Union) started at linebacker for Southern Utah, recovering a fumble against Oregon in Autzen Stadium.
