Moments before kickoff, La Center’s public address announcer acknowledged the longtime efforts of their very own chain crew.
Canon Racanelli made sure, they too, got more exercise than usual.
“My first throw was a little off,” Hockinson’s senior quarterback recalled when the opening game butterflies began to quiet. “Then I knew I had to step back, grip it and rip it.”
Teamed with his younger wideout brother, Sawyer, Canon made the home team pay by going 10 of 13 in the first half for three passing scores — two of which came soon after Wildcat miscues, as Hockinson cruised to victory.
“They gave us great field position,” Racanelli recalled of his second of three touchdown connections with brother Sawyer. “We went trips and they put the safety on top. It was an easy pitch and catch.”
