Volunteer opportunities

Clark County and the city of Vancouver seek help for the seventh annual Butt Stops Here cleanup. Participants will meet at 9 a.m. Oct. 28 in the Bud Van Cleve Community Room at Luke Jensen Sports Park, 4000 N.E. 78th St., Vancouver. After orientation and refreshments, volunteers will go in small groups to parks and public areas to pick up cigarette butts. Gloves and other supplies are provided but volunteers must have transportation. Volunteers should wear long pants and sturdy, closed-toe shoes. At 11:30 a.m., volunteers will return to Luke Jensen Sports Park to weigh bags of cigarette butts. Blind Onion Pizza will provide lunch. Sign up at www.clark.wa.gov/public-works/volunteer

Clark County Parks seeks volunteers for the 14th annual No Ivy Day event, to remove non-native English ivy from parks, trails and green spaces. Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. Oct. 28 at Tenny Creek Neighborhood Park, 3105 N.E. 91st St., Vancouver. Refreshments, tools and training will be provided.
