Vancouver is among more than 150 cities hosting Q Commons, a one night event to “bring leadership, civility, hope and restoration to the local community and our nation in a time of great division,” a news release from Union Chapel said.

The church is hosting the event 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in its annex space at 806 Main St. The goal of the night is for Christians to come together and talk about “hope and healing in a climate of hatred and hostility,” the news release said. There will be three nationally broadcast talks, along with three local speakers.

“Vancouver is certainly not immune to the broader issues our country is facing and we want to be a part of the solution,” Jake Hendrix, pastor of Union Chapel, said in the release.

Local speakers include Ralph Willson of LWS Architects, CrossFit Fort Vancouver coach and owner Adam Neiffer, and Jennifer Rhoads, president of the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington. New York Times op-ed columnist David Brooks, Kara Powell, author and teacher at Fuller Theological Seminary, and hip-hop artist Propaganda are among the national speakers.
