Visibility for this morning’s commute was anticipated to be much clearer than Monday, in which dense fog prompted the National Weather Service in Portland to issue an advisory remaining in effect for much of the morning.
The National Weather Service said patchy fog was possible, but meteorologist Jeremiah Pyle said easterly winds Monday night would likely result in a sunny start to the day. There’s a better chance of patchy fog for Wednesday morning’s commute. But it shouldn’t be anything like Monday, he added.
Visibility was about a quarter-mile or less early Monday morning, with the fog especially dense around Vancouver and downtown Portland, the National Weather Service said. Areas particularly affected included portions of the Interstate 5 corridor and river valleys.
Pyle said Monday afternoon that he hadn’t heard of any major problems caused by the fog. He was monitoring social media, he said, and the National Weather Service hadn’t received any calls about it.
