Vancouver social services provider Share raised $129,748 at Sunday’s annual Soup’s On! fundraising dinner. This year’s event attracted 690 guests and was held at the Red Lion Hotel on the River – Jantzen Beach.

As in past years, the event features local chefs, each of whom prepares a soup for all the guests to taste. This year’s Golden Ladle for the people’s choice went to Bonnie Brasure of Bleu Door Bakery for her Chicken Wild Rice and Mushroom Soup. She also won the Davidson & Associates Sponsor’s Choice Award. Marian Adams of Frontier Public House and Capers Ogletree of Eatery at the Grant House tied for the Chef’s Choice Award.

Mandi Carsey received the 2017 Emily Marshall Volunteer of the Year Award, and Vancouver police Officer Tyler Chavers was presented with the Community Partnership Award.

Share’s programs include homeless shelters and meal services, including the backpack take-home food program that benefits 1,850 children at 89 schools.
