An incident late Friday involving a reportedly stolen vehicle snarled traffic on Highway 14 near Southeast 164th Avenue for an hour.

The incident began around 10 p.m. when the Washington State Patrol stopped a driver in an allegedly stolen vehicle, according to The Columbian’s news partner, KATU-TV. A passenger in the vehicle refused to surrender, and a standoff ensued. The passenger eventually surrendered, and both the passenger and the driver were in custody.

A witness, Raynel Hunt, told The Columbian that at least a dozen police cars were on the scene.

At 11 p.m. the Washington State Department of Transportation webcams reported the highway had reopened, but some residual traffic remained.
