Update: Emily J. Hansen-Tangen, 17, of Camas and her passenger, Kyla Majors, 17, also of Camas were both treated and released from PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center on Wednesday.

Original story: Three east county residents were hospitalized after a head-on crash on state Highway 500 west of Camas early Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Emily J. Hansen-Tangen, 17, of Camas was heading east on the highway around 12:45 p.m. John P. McEiver, 69, of Washougal was heading west.

Hansen-Tangen was driving fast, the State Patrol said, and lost traction. She overcorrected and crossed into the westbound lanes. Her car then collided with McEiver’s pickup.

Hansen-Tangen, McEiver and Hansen-Tangen’s passenger, Kyla Majors, 17, also of Camas, were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Their conditions were not available.

The crash totaled both Hansen-Tangen’s Acura Integra and McEiver’s Ford Ranger, troopers said.

The State Patrol said Hansen-Tangen was driving too fast for the conditions, and she was cited for driving to the left of center of the roadway.
