A car fire stopped traffic in spectacular fashion along Highway 14 Wednesday morning.

The fire was reported about 10:35 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the highway near Ellsworth Road, just west of Interstate 205.

Vancouver firefighters arrived to find everyone was safely out of the burning car and were able to knock down the flames within a few minutes, said Kevin Stromberg, a fire department spokesman.

Traffic was stopped for about a half-hour while firefighters worked, providing a good view for motorists including Camas resident Jodhi Mather-Pike, who surveyed the scene.
