A Vancouver woman was hospitalized after she fell asleep at the wheel Tuesday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Julie A. Lloyd, 54, was heading south on Interstate 5 around 7 a.m., troopers said.

She was behind another vehicle going onto Exit 1A, onto state Highway 14, and fell asleep.

Her car rear-ended another, the state patrol said.

Lloyd was hurt and was taken to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center. She appeared to have been discharged later that day, according to the hospital.

The other driver drove away unharmed and with an undamaged vehicle, the state patrol said.

Lloyd was cited for second-degree negligent driving.
