Fire investigators say they have not yet determined the cause of a Thursday afternoon fire that destroyed a motor home parked near the Wal-Mart in Hazel Dell, because they’ve been unable to speak with the vehicle’s occupants.
No people were injured, but a dog was found dead inside, Clark County Deputy Fire Marshal Susan Anderson said Friday.
Firefighters were called to a burning RV at 9000 N.E. Highway 99 at about 4:45 p.m. Clark County Fire District 6 spokesman David Schmitke said they arrived to find a 1987 Class C motor home engulfed in flames. No one was with the vehicle.
Anderson said until she can speak with the occupants, the cause and origin of the fire are undetermined. She did determine, however, that the fire started inside the unit.
The estimated damage to the RV and its contents is approximately $6,700, Anderson said.
