LA CENTER — The high-octane La Center offense was in full form Friday night, racking up over 400 yards rushing as the Wildcats doubled up the Stevenson Bulldogs 64-32 in a 1A Trico League football matchup of first-place teams.
The Wildcats (2-0 in league play, 4-2 overall) scored touchdowns on eight of their first 10 possessions in front of a Homecoming standing-room only crowd and picked up a safety on another. Wyatt Dodson led the ground-and-pound attack with 201 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Fellow running back Colin Namanny added two more as La Center has scored 120 points over its past two games.
Stevenson (1-1, 4-1) used its passing attack to stay within shouting distance. Quarterback Brandon Connell threw for 292 yards and three scores. Isaac Hoidal hauled in two of the three touchdown passes and Preston Lowry snared one. Connell also connected with Lincoln Krog on a 92-yard pass play before leaving halfway through the fourth quarter due to injury. Krog accounted for 116 yards receiving.
La Center quarterback Hayden Williamson threw three touchdown passes, all in the first half, for the Wildcats, who travel up north next week for a non-league contest against 2A Burlington-Edison.
