History tops Clark Asks voting round

Native American villages, camps story to be reported soon

We recently asked you to help us choose the next Clark Asks story to pursue, and diving into local history won again.

More than half of those who voted chose this topic: “On some old land claim maps of the town, there’s a few Indian camps/villages marked. Can you tell us about these? Fort Vancouver doesn’t count.”

Other topics in the voting round included:

• “What is the status of all the available land on the WSUV campus? Are they ever going to develop those hillsides? Is there a master plan?”

• “What’s going on at Mill Plain — just west of I-205 — and 104th where the ARCO station has been idle for 5 years and is now being torn down?”

We plan to soon begin reporting on the villages and camps story and hope to have something published in the near future, so stay tuned.

In the meantime, don’t hesitate to submit your questions to Clark Asks. We ask readers to vote periodically on some of the questions, but even if your question doesn’t make the cut, it doesn’t mean we aren’t going to report on it. We often write about the runner-ups as well.
