A 26-year-old Vancouver man was arrested Saturday after reportedly losing control of his truck on state Highway 500 west of Camas, according to a Washington State Patrol report.

The state patrol responded to a report of a collision at about 8 p.m. Saturday near milepost 10 on eastbound state Highway 500, about 7 miles west of Camas. Troopers found a 1987 Dodge pickup off the highway in nearby brush.

According to the report, the driver of the truck failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the center line and left the roadway, struck trees and brush before hitting a chain link fence.

State patrol arrested the driver, Zachary Taylor, 26, of Vancouver, and impounded his truck while his passenger, Lazaro Duron, 26, was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries. His condition was unavailable.

Taylor, who had minor injuries, was charged with vehicular assault. The report states that alcohol or drugs appeared to be involved.
