Five people were displaced after a report of a possible fire in a Vancouver house Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to a structure fire in the 2200 block of Northeast Cranbrook Drive, in the Burton Ridge neighborhood, at about 1:15 p.m.

Vancouver Fire Department spokesman Darren Deming said there was no active fire, but firefighters removed a chunk of the home’s ceiling to find the problem.

What caused the problem is under investigation, he said, but firefighters found a ventilation unit in the building had melted some plastic.

The Red Cross responded to help the occupants, two adults and three children, with temporary housing and other emergency relief.
