NAIA cross country championships set for Saturday in Vancouver

The NAIA men’s and women’s cross country championships will be held Saturday at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.

The men’s 8K race begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by the women’s 5K race at 11:30 a.m.

Admission is free.

This is the fifth time the NAIA has used the Fort grounds for its championships, the last was in 2012.

The awards ceremony, also free to the public, will take place at the Hilton Vancouver at approximately 1:30 p.m. or once results are finalized and posted.

Defending men’s champion Southern Oregon returns, and Eastern Oregon brings Camas High grads Dustin Zimmerly and Nick Duffy.

British Columbia is the defending women’s team. Corban of Salem, Ore., along with Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon will be competing.

As the host school Northwest University of Kirkland has both its men’s and women’s team competing.
