Prep roundup: Hockinson soccer falls in penalty kicks to N. Kitsap

The Hockinson girls soccer team saw its season end in a penalty kick shootout Tuesday against North Kitsap in the first round of the Class 2A state playoffs.

With the teams deadlocked 1-1 after regulation and overtime, the match went to a penalty kick shoout. Even that needed more than its five standard rounds, with North Kitsap prevailing in the seventh round in Poulsbo.

Hockinson took the lead in the 17th minute on a penalty kick by Kayla Sills.

Hockinson’s season is over at 12-6-2 after finishing second in the 2A Greater St. Helens League and the District 4 tournament.

North Kitsap (13-6-0) advances to the quarterfinals against Liberty of Issaquah.

KAMIAKIN 4, MOUNTAIN VIEW 1 — The Thunder allowed two goals in the first 10 minutes en route to a first-round loss in the 3A state playoffs in Kennewick.

Mountain View pulled within 2-1 on Olivia Fothergill’s goal in the 16th minute.

Kamiakin (18-0) put the game out of reach with two second-half goals.

Jessie Selby had 10 saves for Mountain View, which saw its season end at 11-4-3.

HENRY JACKSON 4, UNION 0 — Jackson of Mill Creek eliminated the Titans from the 4A state playoffs in Everett.

The Titans (13-5-4) fell behind after just 45 seconds. Jackson put the first-round match away with three second-half goals.
