BATTLE GROUND — Mill Creek Pub will celebrate its sixth anniversary, and owner Russell Brent is inviting veterans and active service members to dine for free.

Instead of the pub’s regular Saturday brunch, there will be a pancake, egg and sausage meal for free for all veterans and active-service members from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Mill Creek, 1710 S.W. Ninth Ave., Battle Ground. Military ID is requested, and the breakfast will be $11 for others.

Brent will also celebrate his restaurant’s anniversary with his annual emptying out of the wishing well to donate to charity. This year’s recipient is the Battle Ground Education Foundation. There will be an online contest on the pub’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/millcreekpub, where guests can guess how much money is emptied from the well, and the person who guesses closest will win a $100 gift certificate to Mill Creek Pub.
