The Clark County Historical Museum will hold the grand opening of its “I am Clark County” exhibit this week with First Thursday and First Friday events.

“I am Clark County” was developed by public history students from Washington State University Vancouver. It features stories of place, community, and identity, including people with long family histories in Clark County, and more recent arrivals, from a variety of ancestral heritages.

The First Thursday event will begin with a moderated panel discussion comprised of “I am Clark County” exhibit participants who share their unique stories. Panelists will discuss how they came to Clark County and some of the events and memories that shape a sense of place and community in the area. A question-and-answer session with the audience will follow.

First Thursday admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $3 for children under 18; museum members are free. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the discussion will start at 6:30 p.m.

The First Friday event will also showcase the “I am Clark County” exhibit with a facilitated poetry workshop. Admission from 5 to 9 p.m. on the First Friday of each month is free. The facilitated poetry workshop will begin at 6:30 p.m.
