The Clark County Youth Commission is currently recruiting individuals between the ages of 11 and 19 for 10 open positions for its 2017-2018 program year.
The 30-member commission is intended to serve as a voice for youth in Clark County and advises the county council, departments and community organizations about how their work affects young people, according to a news release. Additionally, the commission also identifies issues of concern to young people, seeks to build youth-adult partnerships and provides leadership opportunities.
The commission is looking to fill positions representing school districts including Camas, Evergreen, Washougal and Woodland. Applicants for Woodland must live in the section of the city within Clark County. Vacant positions also include at-large positions, which represent any part of Clark County, as well as new leader positions for youths with no leadership experience, according to a press release.
Members serve a one-year term, but can recommit to serve multiple terms. The youth commission requires four to 12 hours of work each month for various projects and assignments. Meetings are 6:45-8:45 p.m. the first and third Thursdays of each month except July and August. Special projects, assignments and subcommittee work add another two to eight hours per month.
